His research focuses on elucidating fundamental mechanisms of phages and phage-related entities during phage-bacteria interactions and using this knowledge to design tools to improve human health. He has investigated the bacterial systems to resist phage attacks as well as how phages overcome these systems. In particular, he recently discovered the anti-CRISPRs, proteins produced by phages that inhibit diverse CRISPR-Cas systems, which can be harnessed as off-switches for CRISPR-based genome editing systems.

Welcome Message

On behalf of the organizing and scientific committees, I cordially invite you to the 2022 International Meeting of the Microbiological Society of Korea (MSK2022), which will be held from October 30 to November 1, 2022, at the International Convention Center JEJU (ICCJEJU), Korea. I am very happy to see colleagues reconnect face-to-face as we emerge from COVID-19.

The meeting will present and discuss cutting-edge microbiology research on a variety of topics. Five excellent plenary lectures will be delivered by world-renowned scientists, and an exciting lineup of invited speakers will lead 20 exciting sessions on emerging topics. Furthermore, the meeting will provide unique opportunities for students and young scientists to present their scientific findings in oral and poster sessions.

As you all understand, scientists should actively communicate to exchange their ideas and research results with each other, and microbiologists are no exception. I am convinced that this meeting will provide you with rich academic challenges and social environments as well. In this light, it is my great honor and pleasure to invite you to our international conference of MSK taking place in the beautiful Jeju Island.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the organizing and scientific committee members for their contribution to a successful meeting and hope that MSK2022 will be an unforgettable experience for you going through unprecedented and challenging times.

We look forward to seeing you at the MSK meeting on Oct 30, 2022.

Best Wishes
